Ways through the labyrinth is a one-day interdisciplinary symposium celebrating the latest research from the University of Wales in the flourishing international field of drama/theatre/performance translation.
Experts in drama, translation studies, creative writing and modern languages from the University of Wales will be joined by colleagues from local universities and others from further afield to discuss both papers and practical demonstrations in translation and dramaturgy. The symposium will see the launch of Richard Hand’s new translation of Octave Mirbeau’s Business is Business and Charity, and there will also be a chance to view a University of Wales performance of Gorky’s Summerfolk.
Mark O’Thomas (University of Lincoln): Translating 'Emerging’ Playwrights – Globalisation, Innovation, Praxis
Delegates are invited to a University of South Wales production of Gorki’s Summerfolk, directed by Stephen Lacey, after the symposium. The performance starts at 7.00pm. Please request a complimentary ticket from the symposium organisers in advance.
